Well, here we go again, they say the third time is a charm we shall see. I seem to be having difficulty with writing and for a change it has nothing to do with a lack of what to say and more about freezing software and forgetting to save when taking a break. Then there was my crazy job and the messed-up sinus infection that spent two weeks trying to kick my sorry ass. Now I am feeling better and ready to get writing and I really have a lot to write about. But I am doing this really insane thing that started with reading The Wallflower which is the first book in the Halle Pumas series, which is connected to the Halle Shifters series and the Poconos Pack Series, and has me currently on Bear Necessities.I chose to re-read The Wallflower because I really love Emma and Max, they make laugh and lighten my mood significantly when I am alone with my heavy thoughts, be alone is a hard thing these days but visiting with some good characters and chase away blues. Emma’s not always so appropriate comments and Max’s Ricky Ricardo like response when he says her name are hilariously entertaining. Then there is Emma when she is in her bad ass mode, she does pack a punch for the tiny person that she is which just proves that the tiny are mighty and one really should not piss them off. By the way ladies, in case you have not read The Wallflower yet, Max’s last name is Cannon and if you get the innuendo then you will have to read the story to find out if he lives up to his name because even though I tell you the story does have steamy moments and some interesting foreplay, I think it is only appropriate that Emma tell you herself about him living up to his name or not (lol).
Then we have Livia, who maybe should be an elephant instead of a puma since she can sure hold a grudge or maybe she is just jealous. Either way that psycho b*^*h really needs to be committed so she can deal with her stalking issues which obviously stem from her delusions that she should be the Curana because I honestly don’t think love for Max has anything to do with her desire to mate with him. Livia’s break from reality was pretty epic and probably predicable but what really surprised me was her lack of intelligence when it came to her methods, I mean I figured she was a come-at-you-head-on type of person not a come-at-you-sideways type person.
The Wallflower is definitely one of my favorite stories and my only real complaint is that it can easily be read in a day or if it is really quiet with no disruption half a day. Either way it deserves a five-star and on that note I know that there is a new edition of The Wallflower and given that I am seriously curious to see if there are any rewrites or addition you will probably see this review again but for the newest edition which was published by Dana Marie Bell.

The Wallflower Halle Puma Book 1 edition by Dana Marie Bell Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
The story was pretty good, unfortunately, it went too quick. It felt like a novella in which after like the first day of seeing her he was telling her he loved her. Also, he immediately marked her and in the next breath he was telling her that she belonged to him and that she was his mate and he's a puma who just changed her and she was like "ok". With a few more words/pages, the story wouldn't have felt rushed. Aside from that, it was a good story.
Emma Carter owns Wallflowers a store for anything you can hang on a wall. It is also what she considers herself and her partner Becky Yeager to be - Wallflowers and because of her looks and the spitefull behavior by some of the other women in town, what she feels she will always be.
Emma is short and curvy, not the ideal figure most men are attracted by, imagine her surprise when Max Cannon returns to town and he seems to be interested in her! She has always been in love with Max but he has always been with Olivia - one of the women who hate Emma and Becky.
Max didn't even remember Emma but when he hears her voice on the phone when she calls his friend and Beta, Simon, he feels attracted to her. After visiting her shop with Simon to make a delivery he knows she is his mate and Curana to his Alpha. Max has to let Emma know what he is (a puma shifter) as well as who he is (the Alpha leader of the Pride) and he's concerned that she may not be strong enough to be the Curana to his Alpha and the leader of the women of his Pride.
Emma is a huge surprise to all who meet her, she's no pushover to Max and can hold her own with any of the other women. She's even able to teach them a lesson or two. The wise cracks and kitty jokes never stop!
This is fun, witty, hilarious and entertaining. Read the series, I am!

HIGH LEVEL Book 1 of a shifter-focused paranormal romance with Pumas. Writing is light and fun. Characters are not very deep, but still appealing. Magic is understated with the emphasis on the dual nature of the shifters and the significance of finding a mate. This is a fast read- what you see is what you get. Nothing too intense.
PLOT Very basic. This is a subgenre that traditionally doesn't have complicated plotlines and this one doesn't stray far from the norm. Still, it does what it is supposed to. This is a NOVELLA, so be prepared for things to move a little faster than is reasonable. There isn't much adjustment time for Max to court Emma, Emma to accept the idea of shifters and becoming one and the plot to resolve itself. It would have been better if there was more to it. One complaint, the "claiming" was completely unreasonable in its suddenness and lack of explanation- and then the response was disproportionately low.
CHARACTERS Like watching an episode of "Friends," this story presents a few fun personalities with a little history and plenty of potential for ongoing mischief. Max seems like a genuinely nice, well rounded guy, if a little self-centered. Emma is a spunky, full-figured chick. Her virgin state was a little too far-fetched for me and, frankly, I'm getting a little annoyed with the prevalence of this particular point in para-romance. Maybe there are more virgins out there than I thought...
BOTTOM LINE This is perfect if you are in the mood for a little shifter fun. Not too heavy, no real violence, a little lust, a little humor.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. Vivian Arend's Wolf Signs Granite Lake Wolves, Book 1 fun, light were-romance series
2. Vivian Arend's Tidal Wave Forces of Nature, Book 1- a light, lusty read with frolicking dolphins
3. R.G. Alexander's steamy vampire/were/witch romance series Regina in the Sun (Children of the Goddess) (more erotic than this)
4. Dana Marie Bell's Dare to Believe (The Gray Court) - sexy, humorous para-romance with all manner of fae Sidhe, dragons, leprechauns, vampires and more.
5. Kresley Cole's adventurous and intricate magical romance series (never mind the ridiculous title) A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, Book 1)
6. Jacquelyn Frank's Jacob (The Nightwalkers, Book 1) - demons, were, vamps and other fae finding their better halves in races that should be the enemy
7. Renee Michaels' sexually adventurous, but basic werewolf romance Her Chosen Wolf The Were Chronicles, Book 1 (more erotic than this)
8. Moira Rogers' basic werewolf romance series Cry Sanctuary Book 1 of Red Rock Pass series
9. Moira Rogers' magically diverse romance series Crux Southern Arcana, Book 1
